The new US Bankruptcy Courthouse was recently built on the old Thalhimers Department store lot on East Broad Street.

It is across from MCV hospital and the Richmond City Hall Building.

When you enter you will not be allowed to take any sharp metal objects such as nail files or pen knives, cell phones, laptop computers, or anything that you cannot take on an airplane.

Make sure you bring your drivers license and social security card for identification.  You must have a social security card.  The trustee will not conduct your 341 hearing without your social security card.


To attend your creditors/341 hearing you will go to the 4th floor.

To attend a hearing or motion before the judge then go to the 5th floor.

Make sure you arrive AT LEAST 30 minutes early because parking is extremely difficult downtown and it will take some time to go through the metal detectors and security.  The guards will search you and look into your pocketbooks.
